BLIND AUSSIE MIX FEMALE PUPPY

Intake Date 11/17/07
This adorable little blind puppy was found wandering alone with her sighted
litter mate
along side a road in Centerville Tennessee
A good samaritan picked the puppies up and took them home so they would't
be killed by a car
Once they got the puppies home they realized this little girl is mostly blind
They contacted us to see if we could help get her into our progam here at
CODA
because the local rescue they contacted in TN suggested they euthanize this
puppy since she was born blind
( Sydney's brother on left and Sydney napping on the right of photo)
The good samaritans just couldn't do that to this little darling so they
contacted CODA to help
Luckily one of our previous foster homes had a transport running from Nashville
TN that was passing
right through Cleveland so this little girl was able to catch a ride almost
all the way to our door
( Thanks Kim Kleppel and MARS and all the wonderful transporters for letting
this little one piggyback on your transport)
She is doing well since her arrival and is eating great for us. Does her best
to let us know when she has to potty
and will potty outside if taken out immediately when she cries her little
puppy scream cry to let us know she has to potty
She is learning to accept her new collar and leash and we are working on leash
training her
She was pretty lonely her first night here most likely missing her little
brother she was found wandering stray with
So we asked Kashi if she would mind playing " Mommy Dog" for a while
for the little one and Kashi was up to the task:)
Kashi has taken this little girl under her wing and is doing a wonderful job
of being a mommy dog for the puppy
This little blind puppy can hear fine and does appear to have some limited
vision in her right eye
She is definately totally blind in her left eye as the pupil never fully developed
We estimate her age to be approximately 5-6 wks old as she still has puppy
breath.
She may be a MINATURE aussie mixed pup as she is very tiny and weighs about
2 lbs
She has a full tail , not a bobbed tail.
She has had her first puppy vaccinations and worming already
We will have updates as we work with and learn more about this little girl
but she is very intelligent and loves
to be held and cuddled and she loves to give kisses!
Thank you to Leah Imler
( A CODA adoptive mom to 3 of our special needs dogs)
for choosing the name Sydney for this little darling
UPDATE 12/15/07
Sydney was very happy when Montana arrived here in rescue
Now she has another mini aussie puppy to play with and wrestle with and snuggle
up with for naps:)
Sydney continues to do wonderfully on learning how to map out her environment

We will be accepting name entries until December 25th and then will draw a
winning name from the entries for each of the new puppies
UPDATE 11/23/07
The puppy is doing great. She's eating well and adjusting to life here at
our main foster facility
Kashi "Mommy dog", keeps the little one tired out by playing with
her throughout the day
This little one sleeps with that pink belly of hers up most of the time when
she's napping
Sometimes when she's in Kashi's crate the two are snuggled up snoozing together
or playing nicely together
The puppy will SCREAM when she's in her crate and needs to potty:)
Otherwise she's quite a content little puppy
She is staying awake longer and playing for longer periods of time before
assuming the napping position:)
We are still trying to determine if this little one can hear at all
We think she may have some limited vision in her right eye ( the eye on the
white side of her face)
She definately loves to give kisses and to be held and cuddled!
Sydney would like to thank Kate for letting her overnight in KY on her way
to CODA in Ohio
UPDATE 1/25/08
Sydney was spayed today and is recovering nicely from her surgery.
She ate a little bit of dinner tonight and is resting soundly in her crate.
