Lacey Z.
(Lacey's intake bath photo)
Female 9 wk old lab mix puppy
Stray puppy- Cleveland Ohio
Intake Date: 10.17.09
Lacey was found running stray in 40 degree weather in the pouring rain, on
a very busy high traffic street
in Cleveland Ohio
Lacey was attempting to make friends with two dogs confined behind a chain
link fence
living as guard dogs at a local business operation only feet away from a high
volume of fast moving traffic on a main four lane street
Luckily our Director happened to be driving that street, that morning and
stopped to investigate the puppy's situation
There were no humans around and after spending a half hour checking with local
residents no one seemed to know
why this 9 week old puppy was out on the streets in a not so great area of
the city all alone
So our Director picked Lacey up in her arms, received a lot of wonderful puppy
" thank you kisses" from Lacey
and brought her to our main foster facility.
Lacey enjoyed a nice filling meal and then settled down in a comfortable
crate after her bath
for a nap
The next morning Lacey visited with Dr. Brian at Gateway Animal Clinic for
an exam , vaccination and deworming
Once we knew it was safe for Lacey to play with our other adoptable dogs
Lacey turned on her puppy charm
and made friends with everyone very quickly and enthusiastically
(Lacey playing with Montana and Kashi)
Lacey immediately made it clear she loved playing in the new C.O.D.A. Dog
park with her new friends

Lacey resting in the grass after a play session
Lacey is an amazing puppy. Lacey has not had any accidents in her crate since
arriving
Lacey will bark and carry on a bit if she needs to be let out to potty
Amazing for a 9 wk old puppy.....almost unbelieveable
Lacey has had a few incidents of pee'ing in the house while playing indoors
but that's pretty normal
for a 9 wk old puppy and Lacey is quickly picking up the cues that this behaviour
is unacceptable
and will soon learn to signal her caretakers when she needs to stop playing
and go outside to potty.
Lacey responded to the word " sit" the first time we said "
sit " to her by " sitting"
Also quite amazing for a 9 wk old puppy!
Lacey has learned the " Lacey come" command with consistency in
the few days since her arrival
She is even reponding to the " come" command while in the dog park
playing with her new friends
Also quite amazing for a 9 wk old pupp
Lacey weighed in at 16 lbs at her first vet exam
Lacey's first veterinary visit cost was $62.00
Lacy has had her first puppy DHLPP vaccination
Lacy received her first worming medications
Lacey received her first treatment with Revolution Flea Control
Lacey's exam noted no health issues
Lacey will receive her second set of puppy vaccinations in 3 wks
and her 3rd set of vaccinations 3 wks after that
Lacey will be spayed once she completes her vaccination schedule
Lacey is such a pleasure to have here
She is so responsive to learning to please her caretakers
Lacey is extremely intelligent and will train very easily
Lacey will not be available for adoption until she has been spayed
Lacey's name was chosen in honor of a recently departed much loved dog
Miss Lacey Lou Cook who was owned by a C.O.D.A. supporter and friend of C.O.D.A
Joanne Cook of Pennsylvania
The " Z" was added to Lacey's name in honor of ZEUS our recently
departed
and much loved C.O.D.A. mascot
Amazingly Lacey Z is marked in white in the exact same places as ZEUS
and her personality is so much like ZEUS
and Laceys' head seems a little big for her body just like ZEUS.
and Lacey seems to innately understand the human language just like our super
intelligent
ZEUS
Do you think Zeus decided to send Lacey Z to us to cheer us all up
and help us get over our sadness of loosing him?
Because it sure is hard to be sad when Lacey Z is nearby
We hope naming Lacey Z in honor of Lacey Lou Cook will also
help her mom smile a bit between the sadness of loosing Lacey Lou
