MINDI

Mindi has returned to C.O.D.A.
Mindi returned to C.O.D.A. on Nov 29th 2009
Mindi was returned because of aggression issues at her adoptive home of many
years
Mindi was returned with a yeast infection in her left ear that is clearing
up nicely
with proper cleaning and medication
Mindi was also returned very ungroomed with severe matting and her fur was
extremely long and in need of trimming
We let Mindi just get used to things the first few days upon her return.
Mindi was very sad to have lost her family and moped around the first few days.
Mindi had the main outdoor area mapped out within two days of her return
Mindi is very quickly mapping out the entire dog park area which is quite
large so we are very impressed
with Mindi's progress in mapping out the entire dog park
Mindi enjoys playing and exercising in the dog park and quickly figured out
the way from the main yard
to the dog park gate.
Once Mindi was settled in and cheering up a bit we had her groomed.
It took several hours to remove all her matted fur and get her brushed out
and ready for a good bath.
Mindi was all smiles after her grooming and looks fabulous now
Mindi was a perfect angel for her grooming session and subsequent bath and
fluff dry
Mindi also quite enjoys being brushed
Mindi will not be available for adoption for a while as we are evaluating
her and working on re-training her on
her leash manners and other necessary skills
Mindi is completely house broken and crate trained and was spayed before she
was adopted years ago
Mindi is current on all her vaccinations and is in perfect health other than
the ear infection which is clearing up nicely
We will post updated photo's of Mindi soon so check back!
UPDATE May 2010
We have held Mindi without making her available for adoption because the reason
for her return
was aggressive behaviour towards a mentally challenged adult daughter in her
former adoptive home
Mindi has been back here at CODA since November of 2009 and we have not seen
any signs of aggressive behaviour
towards humans since her return
Mindi has tolerated baths, groomings, ear cleanings etc without any incidents
whatsoever
Mindi seems to prefer not to interact with other dogs but is fine with the
cats here at CODA
Mindi's leash manners are excellent once again and Mindi loves to go for rides
in the CODA van
Mindi also loves to help with the gardening, lawn care and poop patrol
and uses her wonderful nose to make sure we don't miss any poop when on patrol:)
Mindi is a highly intellegent dog with an unbelieveable sense of smell
Mindi has a favorite stuffy toy which is her " Miss Piggy" toy and
she always keeps it close to her
and is quite upset when we take " Miss Piggy" away to send her on
a journey through the washer/dryer
Mindi is always very happy when " Miss Piggy" is returned to her
nice and clean.
Mindi loves to use " Miss Piggy" to cover any left over food in
her bowl to hide it from the other dogs here at CODA
Mindi appears to have some hearing and appears to respond so some sounds and
voice commands
so we always make sure to talk to Mindi and treat her as if she can hear,
even though at times she appears not to be hearing
our voice commands leading us to believe she may be unilaterally deaf ( deaf
in one ear)
Mindi requires no daily medications for her eyes, just a good cleaning with
a warm clean moist cloth each morning as she does get some
gunk in her eyes overnight
MINDI'S ORIGINAL INFORMATION IS LISTED BELOW
FROM HER FIRST STAY HERE AT C.O.D.A.
