RAMBO
(Rambo's Shelter Photo from Holmes County Dog Pound above)
Deaf Male 1 yr old Bull Terrier Mix
Rambo is a 1-2 year old Deaf Male Bull Terrier Mix who was listed as a Pit
Bull Terrier at the Holmes County Dog Pound
Rambo is a very sweet natured and loving dog who loves to make sure he gives
everyone he meets a nice wet kiss!
Rambo was picked up running stray in Holmes County Oh with no prior history
available on him
Rambo found himself in dire straights as Holmes County is an Ohio Kill Shelter
Pit Bulls are not listed for adoption to the public due to recent " dangerous
dog laws"
enacted by a naive and dysfunctional Ohio legislative branch of government
who deems dogs dangerous soley based on their breed
rather than on their personality, behaviours and temperment tests
We were contacted by a Holmes County Volunteer at the Animal Shelter to help
save Rambo's life since he could only be released
to a rescue organization with a good history of safely placing " bully
breed" dogs
Rambo may actually be the first dog labelled a Pit Bull to make it out of
this shelter alive
Thank goodness we were able to find a loving foster home willing to offer
Rambo a second chance at life so that we were able to save his life
Thanks to our wonderful
CODA parents( to our adopted Deaf Bull Terrier Mix girl Lilly ) for agreeing
to foster Rambo to save his life
We were filled here at our main facility when the plea for help for Rambo
arrived
So without the help of our wonderful foster homes dogs like Rambo would be
dead instead of happily playing
and learning house manners

Rambo relaxing on the deck at his foster home 3.24.09
Rambo caught a ride to Cleveland from the shelter courtesy of his foster
mom Tiffany
Rambo's first stop when he arrived in Cleveland was at Gateway Animal Clinic
where Dr. Bob
gave him a clean bill of health.
Rambo is a bit thin but still weighed in at 57 lbs even with his ribs and
backbone showing
so will probably weigh about 65 lbs once he is up to his proper weight
Rambo received his DHLPP vaccination along with his Rabies vaccination
Rambo is scheduled for his neuter surgery on 3.31.09
Rambo was so busy flirting with the Veterinary Tech's and giving them all
kisses that he didn't even seem to notice
Dr. Bob was sticking him with needles for his vaccines as well as drawing
blood for his heartworm test.
Rambo tested negative for heartworm disease and will be started on heartworm
preventative immediately
Dr. Bob tested Rambo's hearing and Rambo is able to hear certain pitches of
sound and reacts to certain sounds
So it is our belief that Rambo is most likely unilaterally deaf rather than
bilaterally deaf
( Deaf in one ear - unilateral)
(Deaf in both ears- Bilateral)
After all the excitement of getting out of the shelter alive and visiting
the Veterinarian
Rambo then rode with his foster mom to his foster home and to meet the resident
dogs who will be his foster siblings
until a great loving permanent home can be found for Rambo
Rambo rode well in the car after his vet visit and rode with his head on
his foster mom's shoulder while tethered to the back seat belt assembly
After a short meet and greet with Lilly Bully Girl, Lexus the standard poodle
girl and the barking little Yorkie boy
who are his foster siblings, Rambo's foster dad introduced him to the fun
of having a good bath!

toy
Rambo was a very good boy for his much needed bath and fluff dry
Then Rambo got to go on a nice long walk with his foster Dad Steven to start
working on Rambo's leash manners
Rambo is currently a bit of a handful on a leash as he's a very strong and
muscular little guy
who's very anxious to get out and experience life outside the shelter world
where he's been for the past 14 days
Rambo seemed very over interested in the cats at his foster home and his foster
parents will be working on desensitizing him
to cats and teaching him proper cat interaction manners
Rambo spent his first full day in foster care by going to work with his foster
mom.
Rambo was a very good boy at work, and found stretching out on the couch in
his foster mom's office
a good way to pass the hours at work
After a hard day at work, Rambo returned to his foster home for a two hour
romp and play session
in the big fenced in back yard with Miss Lilly Bully girl
He looked pretty worn out after such a busy day
Now that's a tired Bully Boy:)
Can't even keep his eyes open!
We will have updates on Rambo as we get to learn more about his personality
Rambo foster parents are working on his dog play manners as he tends to get
a bit rough when playing
Rambo is also on intensive " leash training" lessons
Rambo is crate training well and loves all his new toys and chewies and his
big new crate
UPDATE 3/26/09
What a difference a few days of great care can make for a former stray shelter dog
Rambo on the left/Lilly ( Adopted CODA Dog) on the right
Rambo makes Lilly look so tiny:)
Rambo is doing great at his foster home and the foster parents are quickly
falling in love with him
They do make a great looking matching set.....!
UPDATE 3/30/09
Rambo has been neutered and he also had a cyst on his neck removed that was benign.
Rambo is doing well post surgery but is not a fan of " taking it easy
and resting" with new and exciting things in life to explore
Rambo will be ready for adoption as soon as he has healed from his surgeries
Rambo's expenses to date
Shelter Pull Fee -$39.00
First Vet Exam , Vaccinations and Heartworm testing-$79.00
Neuter surgery and surgery to remove and biopsy cyst, and AVID microchipping-$315.00
Total cost -$433.00
Rambo thanks his foster parents for their donation to pay for his Surgeries
and Shelter Pull Fee's
